| TYSL Spring Soccer FAQ |
| What opportunities are available as part of
TYSL Spring Soccer? |
| TYSL offers two different Spring Soccer
programs: an Academy Program and a Travel Program. The Academy Program
is a developmental program for U8-U10 players. The Travel Program is a
competitive program for Select U10-U18 players. Check out the TYSL Spring Soccer Overview
for more detail on these programs. |
| Why don't U8, U9 and some U10 players get
to participate in the Travel program? |
| The purpose of Travel programs is to create
teams of quality players that will participate against a similar level
of talent. Creating high quality teams sometimes involves cutting
players due to lack of abaility. Turning away U8, U9 and U10 players
does not make sense. Our desire is to provide a highly developmental
experience for U8, U9 and U10 players. These players will still play
games as part of the Academy Program, but no travel will be necessary. |
| What are the different age groups/divisions
for the Spring Travel Program? |
| > U10 Boys (Div 1 and 2) > U10 Girls (Div 1 and 2) > U11 Boys (Div 1 and 2) > U11 Girls (Div 1 and 2) > U12 Boys (Div 1 and 2) > U12 Girls (Div 1 and 2) > U13 Boys (Div 1 and 2) > U13 Girls (Div 1 and 2) > U14 Boys (Div 1 and 2) > U14 Girls (Div 1 and 2) > U15 Boys > U15 Girls > U16 Boys > U16 Girls > U18 Boys > U18 Girls |
| What players should consider trying out for
Spring Soccer? |
| Players who love to play soccer and are
interested in being challenged and improving their soccer skills
should consider trying out for Spring Soccer. |
| How many games does each Travel team play? |
| Each Travel team plays 8 games, 4 home games
and 4 away games. The U10 Travel teams are invited to participate in
Friendship Tournaments after all regular season games have been
played. Age groups U11 and up have an opportunity to make playoffs
depending on positioning in standings at regular season end. |
| What towns does TYSL compete against as
part of the Spring Travel Program? |
| Taunton Travel teams may compete against
teams from the following locations: Barnstable, Bourne, Dartmouth,
Dighton, Falmouth, Fall River, Freetown, Fairhaven, Martha's Vineyard,
Mashpee, Nantucket, Nauset, New Bedford, Norton, Sandwich, Seekonk,
Swansea, Wareham, Westport, or Yarmouth. |
| How much does it cost to play Spring
Soccer? |
| The tentative cost is approximately $150, but
it varies from year to year due to gym, referee, equipment costs and
more. |
